CPR/AED for Outdoor Enthusiasts

The CMC Denver Group’s Wilderness First Aid School (WFA) offers a 2 and 1/2 hour CPR and AED (automated external defibrillator) evening class at the AMC/CMC.  Students receive two-year CPR/AED certifications. There are limited spaces for this course. The American Heart Association (AHA) Heartsaver CPR and AED certification course is being used in 2017.

Beginning in 2018, the course will change to two and one-half hour ASHI (American Safety & Health Institute) Adult CPR and AED (automated external defibrillator).  The ASHI course is comparable to the American Heart Association’s (AHA) HeartSaver certification, and meets the 2015 AHA CPR Guidelines. The ASHI course is recognized as meeting industry standards for CPR/AED courses.

This course includes CPR in wilderness environments. The class also covers how to relieve choking victims. (Please note that this course does not qualify for the AHA Basic Life Support (BLS) for Health Care Professionals). The course is taught by a Wilderness First Responder.

This class does not meet the requirements for Wilderness First Aid certification.
